Originally built by the Chrystie Family in the 1750s, Windridge Farm is a historic landmark in New Windsor, New York that once farmed the land and housed Continental Army officers during the Revolutionary War. 270 years later, we took on the de-agriculturalized property with a mission: restore the land to its former glory and promote regenerative farming practices in the Hudson Valley.
Farmer, mycologist, and soil scientist Andy Weyenberg teamed up with filmmaker, designer, and all-around-marketing-guy Emil Benjamin to build the project and plant roots in the community. Andy decided to start with what he knows best: mushrooms. There is no greater way to start the regenerative farming process. We grow mushrooms in our indoor, climate-controlled space, then use the nutrient-rich waste to feed our garden, reinvigorating the soil and preparing us to grow a beautiful variety of happy crops. King's Cultures is just the beginning.
We currently serve farmer's markets and restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC. You can try our mushrooms at home with our simple, elegant Cultivation Kits!
